Notes–to–self
August 19, 2001
These really just amount to ‘notes–to–self’
because I haven’t the time to go into any of these
thoughts in depth:
- I have tons of scraps of paper that need scanning
- these scans’ll be dumped in to yyyy/mm/dd directories, which I need to create.
- I’d like to write a first-person account of my ‘career’ at pres.co/Wheel, to horizontally link with
- my CV, which needs editing and a contextual version for the web.
- I’ve decided not to bring any of my music gear (MPC2kxl, guitar, et al.), so I’ll have to borrow an acoustic when I get over there, or make sure Ethan gets a six-string in his apartment;
- start convertng English Englishisms back into American Englishisms (apartment : flat :: 1st person : 3rd person)
I’m only bringing one book:
Visual Explanations, by Edward Tufte.
Off to eat at the St. Johns’
for my last dinner in London for a while.
I’ve been craving, and therefor eating
fish again recently. This pub does
well-presented flavo(u)rfull food on
oversized china in an oversized richly
colo(u)red room.
I’m not certain whether I’m going to
convert back to international English
spelling conventions, now that I’m
blogging. But the parenthetical u’s
will become labo(u)rious very soon.
I’m nervous about heading off to NYC,
and nervous about flying, as per usual.
Last time I flew with Virgin Atlantic, I was
bumped up to business class: let’s hope
that happens again. Did you know you can
actually comfortably sleep in biz class?
I’d only been in biz class before on a short-
haul between Heathrow and Schiphol.
Flying into JFK at night is always a
fantastic treat. I can still remember
the first time I saw the five boroughs from
the sky: I was about six and my folks and I
were flying back from a cousins Bar Mitzvah
in California.
My fish is calling....
Note (29 Aug ‘02): I couldn’t have treated myself to the NYC skyline incluse of the WTC at a better time....
