Deep sleep, early morning, wakefulness

October 21, 2003

I was exhausted from Simchat Torah —
I think I drummed for seven hours in total.
Filled in with ecstatic dancing and singing.

So I went to be at 9:30pm last night.
Slept very well.
Deep dreaming.
Lamed dreaming.

Woke up at six and davenned in the yurt.
Started with deep, quick, pre-dawn meditation alone.
Moved into bichot hashachar and pesukei dezimrah.
The seeming conflict between the
Solomon's Psalms of Praise towards the begining,
and the Song at the Sea at the end (which includes the
death and destruction of Pharoah and the Mitzraimits)
was brought into resolution somewhat by
what I fell asleep reading from Gafni's "Mystery of Love" —
the iggul/egalitarian communal opening of a circle,
warm, inclusive prayer, needs the strengthening of the
line that divides good from evil, soul purity from construction.

Of course we open from the line again,
into Light and Love (the blessings before the Sh'ma).
At this point the rest of the ADAMAH crew arrived for yoga.
It's been six months at least since I practiced with others.
Great; strengthening, opening.

We then convened a morning meeting,
shared, chanted, drummed a little.
Ate oatmeal.

Completed the dismantling of the sukkah.
Reoranized the basement and stored the sukkah-parts.
Harvested beet and bok choi.
Typed in blog until lunchtime.
